Description
American 500 Series Black
Bell Systems in North America introduced this from 1950 until 1984, being their standard desk model.
It was the brain-child of industrial designer, Henry Dreyfuss. Also black models were the only option until the middle of 1953.
The Canadian company, Northern Electric, issued this particular model in the late 60’s. Detailed for Manitoba Telephone Systems
It is in very good condition. It has also converted to work in the United Kingdom if you have pulse dialling.

WILL YOUR TELEPHONE WORK?
Remember that dial telephones need to have PULSE DIALLING on your telephone line to be able to dial out. Even if you have TONE DIALLING, which is the other form of dialling, they will still ring on an incoming call. You would still be able to pick up the call and talk. You would not be able to dial out.
Most antique (and later) models have mechanical bells. Many telephone lines now are termed VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). These ‘lines’ do not have enough “juice” to power the telephone’s bell sets. The Trimfone is the exception. However, there are APAs (Analogue phone adapters) on the market. Have not had a personal experience with these though.
