Printed in photogravure by De La Rue on Non-fluorescent Coated Paper (NFCP). The gum is self-adhesive.

Issued 3rd November 2009.

The 56p stamp depicted  “Joseph” by Henry Holiday. Taken from the Church of St Michael, Minehead, Somerset.

There were also two phosphor bands with blue fluor.

Christmas 2009 56p Cylinder Block 1-3.

All denominations of this issue were printed in sheets of 50 stamps. So two panes of 25 were divided with a horizontal gutter margin. And also the surplus backing paper was removed before issue.

The Christmas theme this year was “Stained Glass Windows” previously used in 1971 and 1992. For those wishing to use stamps with a Christmas theme, the “Madonna and Child” issue was again made available from existing stock. New printings were issud as required. These stamps were designed by Andrew Ross (also responsible for the 2007 “Sea Life”  and 2008 “Insects” issues).
