Printed in photogravure by De La Rue on Non-fluorescent Coated Paper (NFCP). The gum is also self-adhesive.

The !st Class stamp depicted a “Madonna and Child” by Henry Holiday from the Church of Ormesby, St Michael, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.

Christmas 2009 1st Class Cylinder Block 2-1
The Christmas theme this year was “Stained Glass Windows” previously used in 1971 and 1992. For those wishing to use stamps with a Christmas theme, the “Madonna and Child” issue was again made available from existing stock and new printings where required. The stamps were designed by Andrew Ross (also responsible for the 2007 “Sea Life” and 2008 “Insects” issues.
All denominations of this issue were printed in sheets of 50 stamps (two panes of 25 divided with a horizontal gutter margin), and the surplus backing paper was removed before issue.

We mention Stanley Gibbons catalogue numbers where it is possible. These numbers are either from the “Concise Stamp Catalogue” or from the “Specialised Stamp Catalogue Volume 4 Part 1”. We will try to mention any other numbering that we may use if not covered by the above. Sometimes particular stamps, Smilers sheets, booklets, miniature sheets, or cylinder blocks are not recognized anywhere. Hence, in this case, we would use our own expertise to describe and value that item.
In conclusion, all of our stamps are unmounted mint and in an excellent condition. We will mention any variation to this statement.
